I am sitting outside on my patio to welcome the morning. There is a symphony of birds chirping all around me and a cool breeze blowing over my shoulders. The most prized gifts of this morning are the two oversized gardenia bushes that are bursting with hundreds of flowers. Gardenias are my favorite flower, and along with lime blossoms, my favorite scent.
I wait eleven months for these flowers to bloom. Every single day, week after week, month after month, I water these bushes because I know that in April, they will come. When they do, I keep the windows and doors open so the scent can fill the house. I cut sprigs from the vines and place them in my bathroom, bedroom and kitchen. I spend time writing and meditating on the patio just so I can smell them while they are here.
In the dead of summer, when the desert sun has burned all the leaves and there are no signs of life, still I water them every day. Another person might look at them and think they’ve died. Not me. I know they are coming. After 11 months, they always show up. Right on time.

Have you ever felt like a part of you has died?
Or that you were waiting for your life to start?
Do you ever feel like you have been working on something and you’ll never get it right?
Today is a brand new day. It’s a new beginning. It’s a chance for NEW LIFE to burst forward. The past weeks, months and years, you have been cultivating the ground for something NEW to bloom. For the real you to come forward? We have each had times where we felt like we died, or when there were no visible signs of life. But a new season always comes for us.
I am a firm follower of the steps of New Life. First, is that I release the past. I let go of the dead times, dead thoughts, dead relationships that don’t serve me anymore, and let them fall into the earth to be recycled so there is space for new life to grow. Holding onto what is dead in your mind or your heart clogs the space for something else to be there. It doesn’t matter what has died, if you can heal and let it go, always ALWAYS, something new, beautiful and profound can burst forward.
This comes through daily nurturing of true principles. Whatever you water in your life will grow. Water your mind with truth…and you grow a sound mind. Water your relationships with love…and you grow healthy relationships. Water your thoughts with fear, well…you will die right there on the vine.
Whatever you want to grow right now, ADD TO IT, and it WILL! Trust that the laws of the universe are solid enough to include you
And keep moving forward.
Release the past. Water in the present & watch a new life begin to flourish.
Then Open your arms, your mind, and your heart to receive what comes to you.
It’s on it’s way.

Nice. I love flowers and the blessings of beauty and scent they bring to the world. You did a nice job of expressing your gratitude and analogizing it to day to day living. Excellent job. Thanks for sharing your thoughts. Gratitude.
I love those aromas, too. I wait for my fruit trees to blossom. I don’t have to water them in the winter. Mother Nature does a fine job of that. The principles are true. It is a joy filled journey–once I caught on. Thank you for reminding me, Heather.
Thanks for these words. Beautiful and strong. So easy to forget in our day-to-day race, so wounderful to be reminded.
Thank you Heather.
Wow! Thanks, ii is just what I needed, exactly what I am living. Thanks for the inspiration!
